Avengers Grimm (2015) Timeline Explained – Every Event in Order

Rumpelstiltskin plans to use the Magic Mirror to open a portal to a land without magic, where he could rule unopposed. Without any magical competition, he would have absolute power and no one could challenge his authority. This explains why he launches the assault on Snow White's kingdom to obtain the mirror.

Foreshadowing: The mirror's ability to create portals was established early in the throne room confrontation.

When Snow White and Rumpelstiltskin are swept through the mirror's portal, six months pass in the modern world while only moments pass in the fairy-tale kingdom. By the time the other princesses arrive, Snow has already spent half a year in Los Angeles, becoming a freedom fighter who learned to survive and operate in this unfamiliar environment.

Foreshadowing: The time dilation between worlds is introduced when Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Rapunzel arrive and marvel at how quickly the other world ages.

Red Riding Hood initially resists Rumpelstiltskin's brainwashing because the princesses possess unique magical abilities that grant them immunity to his thrall-making magic. This is why Heart can brainwash Red in the later confrontation but the princesses remain unaffected. The immunity stems from their fairy-tale nature and magical heritage.

Foreshadowing: The princesses are described as possessing unique magical abilities and rigorous training.

Iron John sacrifices himself by shattering the Magic Mirror shard to close the portal and stop Heart's invasion of their world. After being reshaped into an iron-clad enforcer by Heart's magic, John eventually recognizes the lies behind Heart's control and chooses to destroy the shard rather than let it be used to bring the fairy-tale army through. His sacrifice closes the gateway but costs him his life.

Foreshadowing: John's transformation into an iron enforcer foreshadows his later role as a pivotal figure in either supporting or opposing Heart's agenda.

Snow White defeats Heart in their final duel by impaling both him and herself with an icicle, using her own ice powers against him. The fatal blow triggers her own powers to freeze her, sparing her from death but leaving her in a frozen state. This is portrayed as a bittersweet outcome where she survives but remains frozen, offering hope that she could potentially be revived if a way to restore her is found.

Foreshadowing: Snow White's ice powers are established when she becomes a freedom fighter in Los Angeles.

The Magic Mirror shard is a piece of the broken mirror that Red Riding Hood carries lodged in her shoulder after the mirror shatters during the chase. The shard retains the magical property of creating portals between worlds, which is why Heart wants to amplify its power to open a gateway back to the fairy-tale land. The only way home lies with this shard, making it the central plot device throughout the film.

Foreshadowing: The mirror shatters when Red is driven into it, sending a shard lodging into her shoulder.

The princesses, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Rapunzel, possess unique magical abilities and rigorous training from their fairy-tale world that make them immune to Rumpelstiltskin's thrall-making magic. This is why Red Riding Hood gets brainwashed while the princesses remain unaffected when they are captured by Heart. Their magical heritage protects them from this particular form of control.

Foreshadowing: The movie establishes early on that these women possess unique magical abilities.

Rumpelstiltskin adopts the name Mayor Heart as he consolidates power in Los Angeles, using his position to brainwash the populace and quietly rebuild his army of thralls. The name change reflects his strategy of operating in the shadows while maintaining a public facade of authority. His goal remains the same: to obtain magic and establish dominance over both worlds.

Foreshadowing: Rumpelstiltskin's motivation for power was established in the throne room when he revealed his plan to rule unopposed.

The princesses do not successfully return home by the end of the film. The portal is closed when Iron John shatters the Magic Mirror shard, and Snow White is frozen in the aftermath. With the gateway destroyed and Snow in her frozen state, the group is left stranded in Los Angeles, though the ending suggests they may seek another way to bring everyone back home and possibly revive Snow.

Foreshadowing: The need to find another route home is set up when the team realizes the only way back lies with the shard carried by Red.

Cinderella helps Red rediscover her true self, sparking a pivotal moment of memory and resolve that breaks Heart's brainwashing control. This moment of connection between Cinderella and Red reawakens Red's identity and willpower, allowing her to overcome the thrall state. The emotional bond between the two proves stronger than Heart's magic.

Foreshadowing: Red's focus on tracking the Wolf and her determination to help her friends shows her strong will, which would later be key to breaking the brainwashing.

The Wolf is Rumpelstiltskin's right-hand man who survives the initial clash in the fairy-tale kingdom and continues serving him in Los Angeles. He drives Red Riding Hood into the mirror, causing the shard to lodge in her shoulder. Later, Mayor Heart frees The Wolf from custody and uses him as part of his forces. The Wolf represents the continuing threat from Rumpelstiltskin's inner circle throughout the film.

Foreshadowing: The Wolf's presence is established early as Rumpelstiltskin's trusted lieutenant.
