Attack of the Crab Monsters

A group of scientists and their five sailors land on a remote Pacific island to search for a missing expedition and study the effects of Bikini Atoll radiation on local life. They set up a base camp and begin initial surveys of the island's flora and fauna. The mission is tense as they prepare for fieldwork under uncertain conditions.

Shortly after arrival, sailor Tate falls into the water and is killed, his decapitated body surfacing on the surface. The team reels from the gruesome death and steels itself for what may lie ahead. The danger of the island becomes immediately personal.

Two sailors are left behind to guard the explorers as Quinlan leads an attempt to return to the mainland, but the seaplane explodes. As the island continues to fall away, the surviving trio — Dale, Martha, and Hank — encounter Hoolar, the remaining intelligent giant crab, who speaks telepathically and reveals her intent to travel to the mainland with fertilized eggs to feed on more minds. Hank sacrifices himself by dropping an electrically charged broadcast tower onto Hoolar, electrocuting her and her brood. Dale and Martha brace and cling to the small remnant of land as the island sinks, sharing a final embrace.
