On a breezy Friday evening, Alain Coste prepares to leave his office. Unbeknownst to him, his personal assistant Claire secretly delays his departure to steal his keys, setting off a series of unforeseen events.

After leaving the office, Alain visits Dr. Georges Colinet for a medical consultation. Georges informs him that he must undergo surgery for his tennis elbow, which fills Alain with anxiety about the potential risks involved.
