Wanda Saknussemm is a nerdy, glasses-wearing social misfit working at a diner in Los Angeles. Her boyfriend dumps her for not having a sense of adventure. The breakup reveals a longing for something bigger that will push her toward an extraordinary destiny.

Wanda receives a letter telling her that her father, an archaeologist, has fallen into a bottomless pit and died. She decides to fly to Zamboanga, North Africa, to confront the mystery behind his death. The envelope even brands the destination as 'Deepest Africa,' setting her quest in motion.

While going through her father's belongings, Wanda discovers notes about Atlantis and its possible origin from a crashed alien ship. The documents hint at a hidden history and a looming confrontation with ancient powers. The discovery ignites her belief that Atlantis may be more real than she ever imagined.

Wanda uncovers a chamber beneath her father's apartment and accidentally triggers a mechanism. A shaft opens and she plummets into a deep hole. The fall launches her into an astonishing underground realm.

General Rykov captures Wanda and her incarcerated father, intending to kill them. His forces press in as Wanda weighs the threat of losing everything she cares about. The situation seems dire until an ally surfaces.
