Kannamma is introduced as an innocent and brilliant woman with classical music and Tamil literacy knowledge, who loves Bharathiyar poems. She becomes deeply enamored with Aravindan after watching his show and expresses her fangirl moment toward him. Her obsessional tendencies are hinted as part of her character from the outset.

Kannamma and Aravindan fall in love, and he expresses his interest to Kannamma's parents. They initially hide Kannamma's abnormal behavior from Aravindan, hoping to shelter the relationship. Eventually, the parents happily accept the proposal.

Aravindan's family, though wealthy, hesitate to accept Kannamma at first. Aravindan persuades them to give the alliance a chance, and they eventually relent. The couple moves forward with their plans to wed.

Sivakami, Aravindan's mother, and Kannamma constantly clash due to Kannamma's abnormal behavior. The tension strains Aravindan, who grows frustrated with both sides and their conflicts. The household atmosphere becomes increasingly fraught.

Kannamma has a violent outburst and even threatens Sivakami. Aravindan takes her to a psychiatrist, who says she will get better if treated with affection. He also starts uncovering Kannamma's mental history to understand the roots of her condition.

Left with no choice, Aravindan considers divorcing Kannamma. He postpones that option once he learns she is pregnant, hoping the unborn child might soften the situation. He resolves to stand by her for the sake of the child.

Kannamma believes she will deliver a girl and hints at wanting to harm the fetus to spare her daughter from abuse. The couple continues with the pregnancy under the watch of the medical team. The atmosphere remains tense as they prepare for what lies ahead.

As suggested by the psychiatrist, Aravindan takes Kannamma on a vacation to ease tensions. On the trip they encounter Kannamma's childhood friend Thilagam, who hints at Kannamma's troubled past. The journey becomes a turning point as buried memories resurface.

Thilagam explains Kannamma's past trauma: Thilagam's drunken father abused his wife, and during another incident he killed their newborn by throwing it toward a running train. Kannamma witnesses the murder, an event that traumatizes her deeply. The revelation helps explain Kannamma's fragile mental state.

Aravindan informs the psychiatrist about Kannamma's past, and the doctor suggests convincing Kannamma that the baby killed by her friend's father will reenter the world as Kannamma's child. The plan aims to make sense of her guilt and stabilize her condition. Kannamma appears to accept the theory and continues with the pregnancy.

During a hospital visit, Kannamma is deeply disturbed when her ailing mother-in-law blames her for distorting her relationship with Aravindan. The cruel accusation heightens Kannamma's distress. This moment highlights the social pressure she faces.

Kannamma dies during childbirth; doctors cannot diagnose any medical reason for her death. They suggest it appears she did not want to burden Aravindan any longer. Aravindan grieves, accepting the loss while trying to care for their child.

In the aftermath, Aravindan grieves Kannamma's death and resolves to live for their child. He starts rebuilding his life around the baby while honoring Kannamma's memory. The film closes on a note of quiet resilience.
