Addams Family Reunion

Gomez learns that his grandparents have developed Waltzheimer's disease, a form that slowly makes them appear 'normal' again. He proposes a sprawling family reunion as a last, desperate chance that some branch of the enormous Addams family tree will find a cure. The plan is to gather relatives from far and wide, hoping their different genes might hold the key.

Gomez sends a card written in blood, believing it will spark a unique bond with relatives. The act backfires: the mailing system is compromised and the Addams receive the wrong invitation. As a result, the reunion begins on the wrong footing, sowing confusion and misdirection.

The family travels to a luxury resort to stage the reunion. There, Gomez meets psychiatrist Dr. Philip Adams and his sister Katherine, who secretly plan to poison their father Walter Adams to seize the inheritance and frame their younger brother. Gomez hopes Doctor Adams can help cure his grandparents, setting up a clash of motives.

Philip’s younger brother and his wife end up at the Addams mansion due to a misaddressed invitation, where they are treated as guests. The couple is subjected to increasingly abusive behavior from the Addams hosts. Granny discovers the wife’s vegetarianism and retaliates by feeding her deadly nightshade, while Cousin Itt wins most of the husband’s fortune at poker.

Pugsley falls in love with Gina Adams, Katherine’s bespectacled daughter who is obsessed with bugs. Wednesday antagonizes two new snobby cousins, highlighting the cultural clash between the Addams and their guests. The tensions set the stage for the inevitable eruptions later in the reunion.

Katherine nearly drowns in the resort’s pool, but Lurch dives in to rescue her. Despite the dangerous moment, he quickly finds himself drawn to her, and she is initially repelled by his appearance. The unlikely bond adds another layer of complexity to the resort confrontation.

Walter Adams openly expresses his hatred for his son and most of the family, increasing the emotional temperature of the reunion. Meanwhile, Fester and Thing do their best to capture Butcher, Fester’s mutated puppy who feeds on hair, adding a grotesque but comic complication. The growing chaos foreshadows the looming fallout when the truth about the inheritance plot surfaces.

Philip, a champion in many games, bets on his own prowess and underestimates Gomez. In rapid succession, Gomez beats Philip in darts, table tennis, and tennis, publicly humiliating him. The humiliation fuels Philip’s growing rage and threat to the fragile alliance between them.

Philip attacks Gomez in a public knife fight, which Gomez eventually wins. As Gomez holds a knife to Philip’s throat, the police arrive and arrest Gomez and Morticia for attempted murder. Pugsley and Wednesday are arrested for digging open the founders’ grave, while Fester is labeled insane and others are captured.

Philip’s wife is granted custody through a maneuver with child services, sending Pugsley and Wednesday to foster care with Philip’s wife. Fester is separated from the family, briefly prescribed to a mental institution, and Butcher and Thing are captured by the dog catcher. The Addams family members face a bleak moment apart from each other.

Walter Adams posts bail for Gomez and Morticia and his loyalty starts to soften the hostile dynamic. Gomez and Morticia, with Walter’s help, rescue Lurch from a grim fate and the rest of the family is reassembled. Pugsley and Wednesday are happily reunited with their parents.

The Addams strap Philip into his own electric chair and torment him as punishment for his plan. The family eventually returns to their mansion, while the grandparents are left under Philip’s wife’s care; Walter bids farewell and leaves for California. The 'firecracker' reveals itself as a nuclear weapon; a distant explosion signals an impending nuclear winter as Morticia and Gomez kiss.
