A2 follows director Tatsuya Mori’s earlier documentary A, delving deeper into the Aum Shinrikyo compound after the 1995 sarin subway attacks. It shows how most followers, unaware of the plot, struggled to rebuild their lives and faith amid nationwide condemnation. The film centers on Hiroshi Araki, a young member thrust into the role of chief spokesman, confronting public hostility and the unsettling reality that many believers remained devoted despite the cult’s violent legacy.
