A Hologram for the King

American salesman Alan Clay sets off on a journey to Saudi Arabia to sell an innovative holographic teleconferencing system. Despite his excitement, he carries the weight of his past failures and personal struggles, setting the stage for his quest.

Clay secures a meeting with the King of Saudi Arabia through a distant relative, his nephew. This slight connection fuels his hope amidst the backdrop of his previous professional disgrace.

Upon arriving in Jeddah, Clay experiences the effects of jet lag, resulting in him oversleeping and missing his shuttle to the King's Metropolis of Economy and Trade. This mishap only adds to the pressure he is already under.

In a rush to regain his footing, Clay enlists the help of Yousef, a local driver. Their unlikely friendship blossoms against the desert backdrop, with Yousef serving as a comforting companion as Clay navigates his difficult circumstances.
