Death Note

Light Yagami finds a mysterious notebook called the Death Note lying on the ground. He tests it and confirms that writing a person's name can cause their death. After meeting Ryuk, the Shinigami, he learns the rules and contemplates how to use the power.

Having seen the notebook work, Light resolves to pass judgment on criminals and seek a new world order. He imagines wielding godlike power over life and death. The idea begins to shape his actions from that point on.
