Bodhidharma, Suriya, a legendary master of martial arts and healing, is depicted as the son of a great Tamil Pallava king. The tale follows his perilous mission in ancient China, where his guru sends him to halt a deadly pandemic from crossing into India. At first, the locals in China treat him as an outsider, a suspicion that slowly dissolves after he saves a young girl from the disease and defends villagers who were being oppressed. Through acts of compassion and skill, he becomes a teacher in more than one sense: he imparts cures for various ailments, reveals the powers of hypnotism, and introduces the physical discipline that would later inspire a martial art closely linked to the Shaolin tradition, Shaolinquan. His growing influence creates both admiration and fear among the community, and as years pass, Bodhidharma’s desire to return to India clashes with a plot hatched by those who fear the change he brings. Believing that their own sanctuary would be safe if he were buried nearby, the villagers poison him and lay him to rest near a temple. In a poignant turn of fate, Bodhidharma accepts death as a sacrifice, and in Chinese history he becomes a revered figure known affectionately as “Damo.”

The narrative then leaps to modern-day China, where a new threat emerges under the directive of a scientific assault on India known as Operation Red. Dong Lee, Johnny Nguyen, is tasked with launching this covert biowarfare program. He arrives in Chennai and begins by injecting a virus into a street dog, reigniting the same plague that haunted Bodhidharma’s era. The danger is precise and global, and the stakes are layered: if the virus spreads, it could reignite an outbreak that once terrorized ancient China and India alike.

Meanwhile, Subha Srinivasan, Subha Srinivasan, a genetics student studying in China, has a bold hypothesis: Bodhidharma’s DNA could be resurrected in a living form if she can align it with another matching DNA—found in Aravind, a circus artist who is a direct descendant of Bodhidharma. Subha, Shruti Haasan, dives into the research with a mix of optimism and peril, knowing that such a discovery could alter history and threaten national security. Aravind’s life in the circus world seems far removed from ancient enigma, yet the threads of his lineage pull him into a high-stakes scientific quest that could rewrite the boundary between myth and biology.

As Subha’s plan unfolds, Dong Lee becomes aware of her mission and moves to neutralize the threat. He sees Subha as a liability and tries to eliminate her, setting off a dangerous chase that pulls Aravind into the center of the storm. Subha and Aravind’s growing bond adds a human dimension to the crisis, even as the pair confronts a past that Subha’s own professor from the genetics department has already entangled with the China-backed operation. A dramatic reveal exposes the professor as a collaborator, lured by large sums of money, and his betrayal underscores the wider conspiracy behind Operation Red. With time running out, Subha, Aravind, and their small band of allies race toward a hidden research center where Bodhidharma’s DNA could be reactivated in Aravind. They decide to vanish from public view, turning off their phones to avoid tracing. Yet Dong Lee, relentless in pursuit, uncovers their whereabouts and eliminates two outside supporters who had helped Subha. He closes in on the research site, pushing the story toward its climax.

In a decisive confrontation, Aravind taps into Bodhidharma’s powers, a moment that seems almost mythic: the sunlit dawn becomes the backdrop for a resurgence of the ancient master’s skills, allowing him to fight on equal terms with Dong Lee. The final duel is not just a battle of strength but a clash of epochs—the ancient wisdom carried in Bodhidharma’s legacy meeting a modern, weaponized threat. Aravind’s renewed abilities enable him to triumph, and Subha’s research, fused with Bodhidharma’s DNA, helps them neutralize the virus and stop Operation Red from claiming more lives.
