After the Albanian war, Kyriakos Platanias returns to his village, where his young son—small, pale, covered in scars and with crippled legs—lives. The father, once proud, cannot endure the situation and turns to alcohol. Soon the boy confronts German troops led by Willy Knut, who behave like servants to the villagers. The new oppression refuses to accept the boy’s hope.
