2010: Moby Dick

A young Ahab listens for enemy subs off Soviet waters when he detects an unknown target. Despite the captain's skepticism, Ahab insists there is an emptiness, and a confrontation ensues. The giant white whale attacks the submarine, and Ahab loses his leg in the encounter, with the creature dragging the submarine back underwater.

Dr. Michelle Herman and her assistant Pip test a whale song generator when their attention is drawn by the USS Pequod surfacing behind them. Captain Starbuck arrives and discusses recent attacks linked to a massive whale, with Michelle offering her whale vocalization recording from 1969.

Michelle, though hesitant about hunting the whale, agrees to join the mission aboard the USS Pequod. Captain Ahab presents her with the 1969 whale recording, indicating his intent to hunt Moby Dick once again.

In San Diego, Captain Boomer, a survivor from 1969, is tasked with investigating strange activity around the Pequod. He deduces that Ahab is intent on finding Moby Dick, linking past and present conflicts.

While searching off Hawaii, the USS Essex hears a biological signal on active sonar, revealing Moby Dick. The submarine attempts to engage, but Moby Dick destroys the Essex with a torpedo, leaving wreckage and corpses behind.

Following a massive 600-foot target, the Pequod comes into contact with Moby Dick. The whale's presence is confirmed as the crew attempts to subdue it with a nuclear strike and harpoons, leading to a fierce confrontation.

Moby Dick attacks the cruise liner S.S. Rachel, prompting the Pequod, using Michelle's whale song generator, to intervene. The whale retaliates, damaging the Pequod and dragging it deeper with a harpoon shot into its eye.

The Pequod, assisted by a helicopter, traps Moby Dick at an atoll. The whale destroys two boats sent to face it, and survivors are forced onto the island's shore, where the whale continues its destructive rampage.

Ahab boards the last boat and fires his harpoon into Moby Dick’s other eye. The whale destroys the boat, killing Ahab, as his crew watches from the shore. Ahab's obsession ends in tragedy with his death at the hands of the beast.

Following Ahab’s death, the remaining crew fires nukes at the island to kill Moby Dick. The whale evades the attack and crushes the Pequod just as the island explodes, with Moby Dick surviving to continue its destructive path.

The film concludes with Michelle swimming to the surface as a rescue helicopter arrives. Moby Dick is seen surviving the destruction, hinting at its ongoing threat and future encounters.
