Thumbelina

A lonely widow receives a barley seed from a friendly witch. The seed sprouts into a blossom and a child as tiny as a thumb emerges. The widow names her Thumbelina and begins to raise her as her daughter.

The widow tends Thumbelina with care and affection. Thumbelina learns to live a simple, loving life, even as she dreams of finding a companion her size.

One night Thumbelina's singing draws the attention of the fairy prince Cornelius. He appears, captivated by her voice, and the two share a first, tentative connection. This chance encounter marks the beginning of a bond they both feel is fate.

Cornelius invites Thumbelina to ride on his bumblebee and they soar above the world. The journey deepens their affection as they realize they have found someone their size with whom they can share hope and dreams. The ride ends with a promise of companionship.

Enchanted by Thumbelina's singing, Mrs. Toad kidnaps her to join a traveling troupe and arrange a marriage with her son Grundel. Thumbelina is carried away to an underground lair, separated from her beloved Cornelius.

The witty swallow Jacquimo discovers Thumbelina's predicament and sacrifices his energy to free her. He carries her away to safety and vows to help her reconnect with Cornelius. A new ally enters Thumbelina's journey.

Cornelius returns to the Vale of the Fairies and asks his parents to stall winter so Thumbelina can be with him longer. The fairy court agrees to stretch winter by a single day, nothing more. This glimmer of hope is fragile but cherished.

Thumbelina meets Berkeley Beetle, a pop singer who offers to guide her home in exchange for a performance at his Beetle Ball. She sings, but her disguise falls away and she is taunted as 'ugly' by the crowd. Beetle deserts her, leaving her humiliated.

After the Ball, Jacquimo finds Thumbelina and pledges to locate Cornelius and reunite them. Thumbelina clings to the hope that her true love is still out there, despite mounting obstacles.

Thumbelina is sheltered by Miss Fieldmouse but soon becomes entangled in Mr. Mole's desire to marry her. Grundel is hired to capture Thumbelina, and Beetle's wings are removed to aid in procuring the prince and setting a trap for Thumbelina.

Jacquimo injures his wing and collapses in the cold, while Cornelius falls into a frozen pond. Beetle finds Cornelius and takes him to Grundel, deepening Thumbelina's sense of loss. Thumbelina begins to fall further into Mole's trap as winter tightens.

A trio of friendly insect children locate and thaw Cornelius back to life. At Thumbelina's wedding to Mr. Mole, Grundel arrives to stop them, and a chase ensues. Cornelius arrives to fight Grundel, and the two tumble into a hole; Thumbelina escapes with Mole's treasure.

Jacquimo leads Thumbelina to the Vale of the Fairies where she reunites with Cornelius. She grows her own wings and the couple marry in the fairy court, then depart on Cornelius's bumblebee to start their life together.
