In a distant Middle Eastern kingdom, Aladdin grows up with his nearsighted and stubborn uncle, Uncle Abdul Azziz Magoo, who runs a lamp shop. Magoo believes Aladdin is on track to be lazy and irresponsible, and he encourages him to settle down by marriage.
During a royal procession, the scheming The Wicked Wazir has drained the royal treasury and convinces the bankrupt The Sultan to press his daughter, Princess Yasminda, to wed the wealthiest man in the land—the Wazir himself.
The young lovers meet as Aladdin and Yasminda fall in love, crossing paths in a ceremony that reveals their growing feelings. The Wazir seeks the The Jinni of the Lamp sealed in a magic cave and needs Aladdin to retrieve it. But the lamp slips back into the cave with Aladdin still inside. Inside the cavern, Aladdin encounters the genie and escapes with a chestful of treasures.
Back at the palace, Magoo’s well‑meaning but clumsy meddling leads him to deliver the riches as a dowry, unintentionally spoiling the Wazir and Yasminda’s wedding with his naivety and near-sightedness.
The genie conjures a palace and wealth for Aladdin, enough to persuade the Sultan to approve the match. Yet the Wazir steals the lamp and the genie’s allegiance, exposing Aladdin as a fraud. Aladdin is condemned to the scaffold.
As Wazir kidnaps Yasminda and presses his suit again, the bumbling Magoo somehow obtains the lamp from the Wazir and again wins the genie’s loyalty, all while dodging assassination attempts. The Wazir falls into the sea and is devoured by sharks.
Wishing only the best for his nephew, Magoo ends the tale with a selfless gesture: he wishes for Aladdin and Yasminda to live happily ever after; the genie intervenes to save Aladdin from execution, and the couple wed.
