Andrea, the sole son of a wealthy publisher, is a neurotic young man fixated on his mother and plagued by uncontrollable urges and suicidal thoughts. His regressive behavior leaves him isolated and unable to form normal sexual connections. He voyeuristically watches his stepmother’s affairs and becomes obsessed with Carol, a young American girl he secretly films even during intimate moments with her boyfriend, clumsily pursuing her. Though he eventually wins Carol’s affection, Andrea remains haunted by the fear of losing his private world of memories and macabre games.
