Heera Bhatti, an American‑Sikh, runs a Los Angeles corner store with her son Vikram and employee Gulu. She disapproves of Vikram’s Caucasian girlfriend Lillian and hopes he’ll marry a Punjabi woman, but he’s determined otherwise. Their world is shattered when, one morning, eight Californians die after drinking contaminated tap water, upending the community.
