Warlock

The Warlock is taken captive in Boston, Massachusetts in 1691 by witch-hunter Giles Redferne and is sentenced to death for his activities, including the death of Redferne's wife. Satan propels the Warlock forward in time to the late 20th century, and Redferne pursues him through a portal to the future.

The Warlock crashes into the house of waitress Kassandra and her roommate Chas in Los Angeles and is taken in by them. While Kassandra is away, the Warlock murders Chas, signaling his dangerous power and setting the tone for the danger to come.

The Warlock tricks a fake psychic into allowing herself to be possessed by Satan. The possessed psychic guides him toward the first piece of the Grand Grimoire, which is hidden inside an antique table at Kassandra's home, while the Warlock rips the psychic's eyes to use as a compass.

Redferne arrives with a witch compass to track the Warlock and explains basic rules of witches and warlocks, including their weakness to purified salt. The Warlock places an ageing curse on Kassandra and steals her bracelet, while Redferne and Kassandra begin pursuing him to recover it.

The Warlock proves his growing power by acquiring the ability to fly after murdering an unbaptised boy. This brutal act marks a turning point as he continues to pursue the Grimoire pieces across the countryside.

Redferne and Kassandra chase the Warlock to the rural Mennonite family's home, where he locates the second piece of the Grimoire. A battle ensues and the Warlock is struck down by a cold iron weathervane while attempting to fly away.

Redferne and the farmer's wife attempt to bind the Warlock with manacles, but he hexes the Mennonite farmer with the Evil Eye and escapes on foot, continuing his quest for power and the Grimoire.

The farmer's wife and Redferne help the ailing farmer; Kassandra hammers nails into the Warlock's footprints with a blessed hammer, causing him agony and slowing him down. He escapes via a train while Kassandra recovers her bracelet, restoring her youth. The farmer is badly injured, but Redferne leaves bronze keys as a cure.

In Boston, the Warlock coerces a pastor to reveal the Grimoire's location by threatening to cause his wife a miscarriage. The pastor directs them to a graveyard where sacred earth is supposedly buried, and they locate Redferne's coffin and break it open to retrieve the Grimoire, just as the Warlock arrives to seize it.

Redferne carries the Grimoire onto hallowed ground and challenges the Warlock to a fair fight without weapons or magic. The Warlock gains the upper hand and subdues Redferne, claiming the final third of the Grimoire and the name of God revealed on the book, though the sacred rules are violated when Redferne flings soil into the Warlock's face.

Kassandra stabs the Warlock in the neck with a syringe she uses to inject insulin, filled with salt water from the lake, causing his throat to seal shut and he bursts into flames. Redferne and Kassandra bid farewell as Redferne returns to his own time.

Kassandra buries the Grimoire in the middle of the Bonneville Salt Flats, ensuring the dangerous book remains hidden from future threats.
