Voyage of the Rock Aliens

The guitar-shaped spaceship and Robot 1359 scour the galaxy in search of the source of rock and roll. They skip over the planets Teldar and Malox and press on until they reach Acirema, where a dance/musical performance plays. After hearing the show, 1359 dismisses Acirema as the true source of rock.

On Acirema, they witness a dance/musical performance of 'When the Rain Begins to Fall' featuring Pia Zadora and Jermaine Jackson. 1359 remains unimpressed and proclaims that Acirema is not the source of rock and roll.

Earth is identified as the final target in their search. 1359 wakes the crew to begin the journey toward Earth.

A rocket telephone booth lands in the town of Speelburgh, and the humanoid aliens exit. This marks the aliens' arrival on Earth.

Absid's group forces 1359 to take the form of a fire hydrant. Only the Sheriff (Ruth Gordon) witnesses their landing and becomes obsessed with alien invaders.

Dee Dee, a high school singer, harbors a crush on Frankie, the leader of Speelburgh's band The Pack. Frankie loves her but does not want her to sing with them.

A giant tentacled creature lives in nearby Lake Eerie, a product of environmental pollution. It periodically extends its arms into the town, threatening residents.

Absid and the aliens search the area and intersect with Dee Dee, Frankie and The Pack at the local maltshop. Absid falls for Dee Dee and resolves to win her heart, setting his plan in motion.

Absid invites Dee Dee to be the singer for his band at the Heidi High Cotillion Dance and Battle of the Bands. Frankie and The Pack arrive to defend the town, but the aliens' powers enable them to teleport through the toilets, foiling the resistance.

Dee Dee finally gets her chance to perform at the Battle of the Bands, singing with Absid's alien group. Frankie is furious at her switch of loyalties, and Dee Dee and Absid slip away toward the lake to consider their options.

Absid invites Dee Dee to visit his ship, drawn by the possibility of a future with the aliens. She discovers that living on the alien planet would require giving up all human emotion.

Diane encounters Chainsaw, a crazed mass murderer, and a romance begins to bloom as she helps him repair his broken chainsaw. The unexpected pairing adds a parallel thread to the alien affair.

Back at the school, Frankie is cornered in a hallway by the Breather. The lake creature has surrounded the building, and Chainsaw rescues everyone by repairing his chainsaw.

Absid boards the alien ship and uses alien tech to purge the town’s pollution. He also transforms The Pack into a group of boy scouts.

The creature departs town as the skies clear. Frankie and Dee Dee sing and dance into a smogless sunset, signaling a return to harmony for Speelburgh.
