Madhavan Ezhuthachan dedicates himself to opening a school in his native village so local children won’t have to walk miles to reach a distant one. He rallies allies from the village and navigates the bureaucratic process to obtain official permission. With support secured, the team begins planning and renovations for the school building.

Once permission is granted, the community cleans and renovates the school building. To celebrate this milestone, they hold a small party among themselves. During the celebration, Ezhuthachan suffers a stroke and dies.

Following his death, his son Prabhakaran files for partition in court, a move that immediately halts the school's operation. The family becomes entangled in a property dispute that threatens the program’s future. The village is left in shock as the legal process begins.

P. K. Sudhakaran arrives in the village seeking compensation for his investment in the teacher’s post. He learns that the school has already been closed due to the court case, and he becomes desperate to recover his money or position. He starts to plot his next moves.

At Ezhuthachan’s house, Sudhakaran witnesses Prabhakaran’s men forcefully taking away the coconut crop. He tries to intervene and is beaten by Prabhakaran’s men. This confrontation marks the first direct clash over the school’s fate.

Seeking legal recourse, Sudhakaran contacts a lawyer through a previous acquaintance. He convinces Bhanumati and her mother to file a case against Prabhakaran to contest the stay on the school. A lawyer is hired to press the case forward.

At the court hearing, Sudhakaran’s advocate presents evidence that Prabhakaran had Ezhuthachan transfer assets, including properties and a timber sawmill, into his name. The argument contends that with these transfers, Prabhakaran has control over the assets and the school should go to Bhanumati and her mother as rightful successors. This information threatens Prabhakaran’s case.

After the hearing, Prabhakaran tries a compromise through his advocate, offering a settlement. Sudhakaran rejects the proposal, stating that he does not want money at the expense of the school’s future and that Bhanumati and her mother deserve their rightful share. He remains determined to see the school operate.

In an intoxicated state at a party, Sudhakaran reveals to Prabhakaran that Bhanumati’s mother is not legally married and that Bhanumati is not her daughter. This startling confession jeopardizes the credibility of the case and unsettles the stakeholders. The revelation is later used by the opposition to bolster their position.

At the next hearing, Prabhakaran's advocate presents the new information to the court, turning the tide in their favor. The court considers the credibility of the new claims alongside existing evidence. The outcome shifts the momentum away from Sudhakaran.

Filled with remorse, Sudhakaran confesses his mistake to Bhanumati and expresses regret for his actions. He acknowledges that his behavior nearly compromised the school’s future. The revelation strengthens Bhanumati’s resolve to see the village project through.

Bhanumati’s mother reveals that she eloped with her lover and married him, and that the husband she had died long ago. She explains the family’s past and how Ezhuthachan became guardian. This revelation reframes the family dynamics surrounding the school.

Ezhuthachan steps in as a guardian and starts living with Bhanumati’s family, effectively taking responsibility for them. His presence helps stabilize the family unit as the dispute over the school continues. He acts as a paternal figure for the child.

The next day, Sudhakaran announces that the government has decided to take over the school, and that he will secure employment there. He persuades Bhanumati and her mother to remain in the village rather than leaving. The community begins to see a path forward.

With the government takeover in place and reconciliation among the parties, the school finally starts in the village. Sudhakaran and Bhanumati join in running it, fulfilling Ezhuthachan’s dream.
