Sugunan [Jayaram] is a husband who routinely underestimates his wife, Bindu [Gopika], believing her role is to manage the house—cook, iron, clean, and keep things in order—without ever pausing to acknowledge the effort she puts in day after day. The relationship is marked by a quiet disrespect, where compliments are scarce and appreciation feels almost nonexistent. This dynamic places a heavy emotional burden on Bindu, who endures long, tiring days while trying to maintain harmony at home, even as she tries to keep the peace with a husband who seldom notices her contributions. The strain begins to push their marriage toward a breaking point, setting the stage for a fragile balance that could tilt at any moment.

Bindu’s connection with her own family becomes a source of tension as Sugunan remains distant and sometimes hostile toward them, despite her father’s constant attempts to bridge the gap. The pressure deepens when a major misunderstanding arises during the wedding of Bindu’s brother, Rameshan [Madhu Warrier], after Sugunan shuts off electricity to her father’s house when the family relies on the grid. This incident hardens Bindu’s view of Sugunan and foreshadows the growing rift between them, even as she tries to keep faith in their marriage.

A trip to Kodaikanal with Sugunan and their friends—along with their wives—exposes the depth of Sugunan’s controlling tendencies. He resents Bindu’s desire to participate in ordinary tourist activities, like a simple train ride, and his insistence on steering every moment leads to a tense confrontation with strangers at a hotel. When Bindu voices her discomfort and they return home, the trip leaves a sour taste and deepens the sense that she has little room for herself in this marriage. The situation is further strained by the death of Bindu’s mother, which Sugunan’s indifferent reactions fail to soften, intensifying Bindu’s feeling of invisibility within the family unit.

The turning point arrives when a troubling incident disrupts the family once again. A young man named Sandeep convinces Anjana, their daughter, to go for a drive; the jeep breaks down, and he and others exploit the moment to threaten or harass her. Sugunan steps in to protect Anjana and fights off the attackers, a display of fierce loyalty that temporarily rekindles hope. The police arrive and restore a sense of order, but the aftermath unsettles Sugunan deeply. He becomes obsessively protective, muttering to himself about threats to Anjana and lashing out at friends, even going so far as to sever telephone lines in a paranoid bid to prevent anyone from reaching his family.

Bindu, sensing the growing danger, attempts to reach Anjana, but she discovers that Anjana has not attended school for two weeks, and the truth about what happened at home begins to surface. With Sugunan’s friends revealing the truth about the vanished days and the signs of trouble, Bindu confronts the reality of their fractured life. In a tense confrontation at home, Sugunan’s perception fractures; he misreads the situation, seeing Sandeep and the thugs as continuing threats. The crisis peaks when a violent clash results in Sugunan striking their daughter, Anjana, with a stick, a moment that shakes the trust between husband and wife to its core.

Yet, even after this grievous misstep, the narrative reaches a resolution that hints at a fragile reconciliation. Alarmed by the severity of the incident and the need to protect their daughter, Sugunan and Bindu confront their differences and work toward rebuilding their family. The ending suggests a renewed, if cautious, unity, with the couple returning to a shared life and hoping to move forward together, aiming for a steadier balance and a happier future for Anjana.
