A young girl named Vera, fascinated by astronomy, vanishes while walking with her teacher near a Ligurian cliff. Two years later, she reappears, but has inexplicably aged to a woman in her mid-twenties and has no memory of the intervening years. As fragments of her past return, Vera discovers she may have experienced the life of a man who was clinically deceased, somehow intertwined with her own disappearance.
