Uncle Moses

Set against the bustling streets of New York City's Lower East Side, the film paints a vivid portrait of Jewish immigrant life in early twentieth-century America. At its center stands Uncle Moses Melnick, a former peddler who has risen to become a wealthy and influential garment factory owner. His domain extends beyond the factory walls — he commands the loyalty of his landsleit, fellow immigrants from his Eastern European hometown, through a regime that blends paternalism with unquestioned authority.

The narrative's emotional tension emerges when Moses becomes enamored with Mascha, the teenage daughter of one of his workers.
