In the aftermath of her father's death, Jo develops an obsession with tornadoes, driven by the desire to prevent others from experiencing her tragic loss. This transformation marks the beginning of her career as a storm chaser.

Fast forward to the present day, meteorologists at the National Severe Storms Laboratory are monitoring an impending storm system in Oklahoma. The threat of significant tornado outbreaks sets the stage for the reunion of storm chasers.

Former storm chaser Bill Harding and his fiancée, Dr. Melissa Reeves, are on their way to collect divorce paperwork from Bill's estranged wife, Jo. This journey brings Bill back into the world of storm chasing he has tried to leave behind.

Jo leads a diverse and quirky team of storm chasers, including Dusty, Rabbit, Laurence, and Joey, all passionate about harnessing weather data to understand tornadoes better. They all share the goal of using their experiences to make a difference.

Jo seeks to reunite with Bill, believing his expertise can help her utilize a groundbreaking tornado-analyzing device known as 'Dorothy'. This device, containing four distinct weather machines, is designed to study tornado behaviors firsthand.

As pressure mounts, the rival storm chaser, Dr. Jonas Miller, reveals he has copied Bill's 'Dorothy' concept for his own contraption, the D.O.T. 3. Tensions rise as Bill decides to help Jo for a day, hoping to outsmart the competition.
