Set in Denmark in 1963, two inseparable friends, Bjorn and Erik, navigate adolescence. Bjorn is chased by the conventional Kirsten but falls for Anna, who guides him into love and sexuality. Erik, burdened by a strict father and a home‑bound, mentally‑ill mother, longs for the unattainable Kirsten. A pregnancy, a traumatic abortion, an engagement party and a shocking truth about Erik’s father compel both boys to finally confront and stand up to the controlling adults in their lives.
