In Yellowstone National Park, Sylvester climbs a tree toward Tweety's nest despite the ranger's warnings. He waits patiently because Tweety hasn't hatched yet. The quiet vigil sets up the cat's single-minded quest to catch Tweety.

Once Tweety hatches, he pokes the cat with a pin to get him off the nest. Sylvester gives chase, eager to close the distance. Tweety hides in a hole in the tree, and the cat uses an air pump to try to force him out while Tweety counters with a dynamite bluff.

The pursuit moves to another tree as Tweety stays one step ahead. In a bold move, Tweety begins sawing the branch Sylvester is standing on. The tree wobbles, raising the stakes of the chase.

Some time later, Tweety sings about what Sylvester would want with him. Sylvester sits below, scarred and bruised from attempting to scale the barbed-wire-covered tree. The song contrasts the playful bird with the battered cat.

In a fit of frustration, Sylvester hacks at the trunk until it topples. The tree crashes down and traps him beneath, leaving him battered and defeated for the moment. The chase briefly shifts from skill to sheer bad luck.

Desperate to reach Tweety, Sylvester uses a swing to leap toward another branch. He overshoots and collides with a construction mallet, which flattens him in a comically painful tumble. The miscalculation underscores the cartoonish peril of his pursuit.

People are taking pictures of Tweety perched on a stump when Sylvester, disguised as a cameraman, moves in. He pokes his head through the lens and grabs Tweety, attempting to eat him, but the park ranger interrupts, catching the cat in the act and pounding him for breaking the park rules.

Tweety hides inside Old Faithful and uses a clock to time the eruption. He sets the clock to 12:30 and hops into the geyser, while Sylvester tries to counter by restoring the clock to 12:00, hoping to trigger the eruption at the wrong moment.

Tweety hops onto a log and begins rowing down the river, with Sylvester close behind in a separate rowboat. The downstream pursuit intensifies as the waterway becomes their new battleground.

There is a looming waterfall ahead as Tweety keeps ahead on the river. Tweety slips away, but Sylvester stubbornly clings to his pursuit and frantically rows to catch up, still believing he can prevail.

In a final bid, Tweety flips an emergency control, unintentionally sending Sylvester into the air rather than to safety. He waves goodbye as the chase ends with Sylvester plummeting away, presumably to his doom. Tweety coolly comments that Sylvester would hurt himself if he isn’t more careful.
