Dr. Sheila Baxter becomes convinced that true independent thought does not reside in the brain but on the forehead. This belief drives her controversial experiments on her colleague Dr. Philip Latham, where she attempts to harvest a mysterious substance called foreheadazine from the parasitic foreheads. Her scientific obsession blinds her to the ethical implications of her work and ultimately contributes to the town's downfall.
