Time and Tide

During an alcohol-fueled night at a bar, Tyler Yim becomes the father of Ah Jo's child. The pregnancy sets off a chain of risky decisions and strained loyalties. This incident raises the stakes for both Tyler and Ah Jo throughout the story.

To support Ah Jo, Tyler joins Uncle Ji's unlicensed bodyguard operation. He hopes the work will bring money and protection for the unborn child. The move also pulls him into a world of organized danger.

Nearly nine months later, Tyler meets Jack Chow and his pregnant wife Ah Hui. The couple's domestic life contrasts with Tyler's unstable past. Tyler contemplates partnering with Jack to start a bodyguard service.

A group of mercenaries from South America, the Angels, threaten Jack and his family. Miguel Joventino offers Jack a chance to rejoin them if he kills his own father-in-law, escalating the danger.

Jack retaliates by assassinating Pablo Santosa, the Angels' leader, and stealing a cash-filled case. He evades Uncle Ji's bodyguards and knocks Tyler unconscious during the getaway.

Jack drops Ah Hui at her father's mansion, giving her a key to a train-station locker and telling her to go there when their child is born. The moment deepens the separation between the couple and heightens the risk around their child.

Tyler is interrogated by the police about his alleged connections to Jack. He refuses to cooperate, offering no information to clear or condemn himself.

Ah Jo's parole attempt fails to secure Tyler's freedom, but Uncle Ji manipulates the system to keep him confined for a night in a transport crate. The maneuver reinforces Tyler's entanglement with Uncle Ji's network.

Uncle Ji sends Tyler more money, which he tries to deliver to Ah Jo. He discovers she has just entered the hospital to give birth, intensifying the urgency of his next moves.

Tyler heads after Jack and breaks into his apartment, only to stumble upon the Angels and Jack waiting. A running gun battle erupts, and a gas leak forces Tyler to survive by hiding in a refrigerator on Jack's advice.

Miguel proposes a truce with Jack, but the moment collapses when another Angel spots Ah Hui nearby. The standoff devolves back into open conflict as tensions flare.

Angels chase Ah Hui to the train station while Tyler steals a taxi with a fake gun. The cabbie hands over Tyler’s wallet to the cops, increasing suspicion around him.

At the station, Tyler confronts Ah Hui with his fake gun and takes the money Jack stole. Ah Hui goes into labor, and one Angel shoots a cop and an innocent during the ensuing chaos.

SDU officers arrive with medics disguised as relief workers to retrieve Ah Hui. The Angels fire back as Jack joins the fray, and the SDU launches a full assault with tear gas.

In the climactic showdown, Jack kills Miguel on the stadium catwalk during a brutal fight, while Ah Hui successfully gives birth in the tunnels. Ah Hui then kills the last Angel, and Jack secures a head-start to escape the police as Tyler gathers the money and heads to the hospital to meet his child.
