The Road

Meera, Anand, and their son Kavin are happily planning a birthday road trip to Kanyakumari. The doctor advises against long travel during pregnancy, and Meera asks Anand to go ahead with Kavin instead. The plan sets the stage for the tragedy to come.

Their car collides with Gangadharan's vehicle heading to Chennai, killing Anand and Kavin. Meera is informed at the hospital by Uma and Prasad and collapses from grief. She nearly takes a drastic step, but Uma intervenes in time.

Meera sinks into deep despair after losing her husband and son and the unborn child. Uma’s timely intervention saves her life as she battles to cope with the loss and the shock of the tragedy.

At the accident site, Meera and Uma meet Kaaturosa, who takes them to her house. Through Kaaturosa's father, they learn about accidents that have happened on the route before, suggesting a troubling pattern rather than random misfortune.

Meera witnesses another accident on NH 44 and reports it to sub-inspector M. Moorthy. The police start an investigation, but head constable M. Subramani suspects there is something sinister behind the crashes.

Meera and Subramani delve into the cause behind zone-specific crashes. Dr. Madhana Gopal performs the autopsy, and the forensic team finds caltrops on Gangadharan's car but no alcohol traces, indicating tampering rather than alcohol impairment.

Ponnudurai reveals alcohol was forced into Gangadharan to cover up a theft, while Bhaskaran hints at a secret network behind the incidents. Uma explains dark banking practices where funds circulate through Bhaskaran-controlled accounts, and Meera describes a network that targets travelers on NH 44 for loot.

Kaaturosa reveals Prasad's involvement in Gangadharan's car robbery. Using Bhaskaran's coordinates, Meera and Subramani locate the gang's hideout, where they are briefly held hostage by the gang members.

Prasad appears with the gang, and Chella tries to kill Meera. Uma arrives with a gun and helps Meera and Subramani escape from the dangerous situation.

Subramani informs Meera about Chella’s friend Mayazhagan, a former college professor who was driven out after a past incident. His grievances become central to the crime syndicate’s creation, revealing a calculated vendetta behind the pattern of robberies.

Meera learns that Gangadharan planned to smuggle 500 kg of gold via NH 44. Mayazhagan coordinates an attack on Arumai Chandran to seize the gold, but Chella and Prasad snatch the car only to find no gold inside, and an explosion ends the attempt, killing Chella and Prasad.

Meera discovers Padma, alias Padmapriya, is Arumai Chandran’s second wife and a smuggler. Padma’s arrival in Kerala appears to be part of a larger scheme, and Meera abducts Padma to Prasad’s house for answers. Mayazhagan confronts Meera there and is killed when he tries to avenge the ruin of his life.
