The Remainings

The film opens with a montage of Skylar and Dan's happy moments, transitioning into their wedding celebration. Tommy Covington is filming the event as a favor for Dan. The mood is joyful, but a subtle tension hints at things to come.

In the elevator with Skylar's Christian parents, a cold air fills the space just before they collapse, their eyes turned white. Tommy and Skylar are stunned as the couple dies, and the floors beneath mirror the horror. The main floor of the building descends into chaos as more people drop dead.

Tommy and Jack exit to investigate a tremor and find the city already burning. Planes fall from the sky and explode on impact, turning the metropolis into a scene of catastrophe. The group realizes their world has changed in an instant.

A trumpet-like sound echoes through the building, followed by thunder and lightning. Skylar theorizes that they are experiencing the Rapture, while Tommy insists the events have scientific explanations. They decide to move toward safety, acknowledging the threat may intensify.

Monstrous hail pelts the town as the four take shelter in a library. Skylar finds a Bible and shares a verse about the First Trumpet with the group. They then press on toward a church, hoping to find safety.

A demonic being snatches Skylar from Dan's grip, leaving her severely injured on the road. The group manages to reach a nearby church, where Pastor Shay welcomes them into the sanctuary.

Inside the sanctuary, Pastor Shay explains that they are living through the Rapture and that faith matters for survival. More survivors arrive, including a pregnant woman whose baby is stillborn, illustrating the bleak toll of the event. The group tries to comprehend the divine rationale behind these losses.

A survivor is killed by a demonic being as a news report confirms the worldwide Rapture and scientists' 'Instant Death Syndrome.' Frame-by-frame footage reveals Skylar being snatched and the appearance of the Fallen after the Fifth Trumpet. The group realizes malevolent forces are targeting the church.

The Fallen launch an assault on the church, forcing the congregation to flee to the basement as Shay sacrifices himself to save others. In the morning, the group carries Skylar to a hospital, but she dies from demonic venom. Daniel is impaled by a tentacle and dragged into the sky, and Allison is killed.

After a long trek, the survivors reach a relief camp by nightfall. Sam shows a video of Allison choosing God moments before she dies, deepening the group’s grief. Jack is baptized, a ritual interrupted by demons attacking the camp as Amazing Grace plays, drawn to faith.

Sam chooses God and is killed moments after; Tommy follows soon after. The demons descend from the sky as the film approaches its end, leaving the camp in ruin and the survivors overwhelmed by loss. The film closes on a bleak note as faith and survival are brutally intertwined.
