The film follows Wilhelm Brasse, a pre‑war portrait photographer from Katowice who becomes the Gestapo’s recorder in a concentration camp. His passion for photography, once celebrated for elegant portraits, becomes a curse and a salvation as he creates thousands of images that chronicle the camp’s existence from opening to evacuation.
