Expecting their first child, Mary and John find a charming old villa and decide to buy it. Unaware that the owner, Myron—now their neighbor, is a disturbed psychopath who sees Mary as a reminder of his dead mother, Mary grows uneasy about his erratic behavior, but those around her attribute her fears to pregnancy.
