Amos and Ben, both widowers, devise a scheme to bring their children together—Amos’s daughter Luisa and Ben’s son Matt—by feigning a bitter rivalry and forbidding the teens from seeing each other, confident they will rebel. As the pair inevitably fall in love, the fathers arrange a staged kidnapping with a traveling showman, giving Matt a chance to “rescue” Luisa and end the fake feud.
