In a transient tent camp, Marjorie Mitchell notices Sophia's trauma, night terrors, and unsettling visions. Glen refuses help, insisting they must not attract attention. He pores over old family photos, underscoring the losses that weigh on them.

Around the campfire, Sophia glimpses a green lantern and a horribly burned girl. She screams and faints, prompting nurse's aide Doe to diagnose psychosomatic hallucinations tied to emotional trauma. The group debates whether she needs professional help.

The next day, Sophia sleeps better briefly, but the relief fades quickly. Doe continues with hypnotherapy, hoping to unlock the source of the trauma, yet the improvement remains temporary. The cycle of fear resumes as night falls.

That evening, a girl in a scout-like uniform named Annie reappears and lures Sophia out of the tent. Sophia encounters more burned girls, then sketches them the following day, deepening the mystery of who or what is haunting her. The supernatural contact escalates the tension in camp.

Father Callihan tells Glen that children are vulnerable to spirits and places his hands on Sophia’s head, triggering a flashback for Glen. He urges Glen to stay awake to protect her. The warning heightens the sense that ancient wounds are resurfacing.

Glen reaches the pond in the present to rescue Sophia while in the past the Rednecks overpower him. He later discovers Sophia's skeletal remains in the water, a realization reinforced by a police time-stamp of 3:30am and the disappearance at around 7pm. The past and present collide in a bitter truth.

In the aftermath, Glen relays the time of Sophia's disappearance with a police officer, emphasizing the endless search. Presently, Sophia appears to Glen as she did that day and forgives him, offering a moment of inexplicable mercy amid trauma.
