After leaving Shaw Brothers, Ti Lung and David Chiang returned a year later as directors, creating socially aware films. In Ti’s directorial effort, a fatherless Hsiang (Chiang) cares for his mother, but when gangsters murder her, he seeks vengeance. Unlike typical sword‑play heroes, Hsiang regrets his actions, shows sorrow and ends up imprisoned.
