Set against the backdrop of Namibia's independence in 1990, this historical romance delves into 1963, following the 1959 uprising in Old Location, a segregated area of Windhoek. The story centers on Sylvia Kamutjemo, a black domestic worker, and Pieter de Wet, an Afrikaner police officer, whose lives intersect during a routine passbook check. Their connection deepens through exchanged letters, revealing a forbidden love story that unfolds amidst racial divides and explores a significant, often overlooked period of Namibian history with sensitivity and a sense of hope.
