Bogdan killed Tony Curran unintentionally under pressure. He only wanted his passport back so he could return to Poland to care for his sick mother. When Tony refused to give it to him, the situation escalated into violence.

The Angela Hughes case from 1973 is the cold case that inspired the Thursday Murder Club. Peter Mercer witnessed Angela's murder, and DI Penny Gray killed Mercer to cover up her own involvement. When the present-day murders threatened to uncover Mercer's grave, the 1973 case became intertwined with Tony Curran's death through the redevelopment plot.

Bogdan, the Polish handyman, killed Tony Curran. While playing chess with Elizabeth's husband Stephen, Bogdan confessed that he killed Tony under pressure while trying to get his passport back. Stephen accidentally recorded the confession, leading to Bogdan's arrest.

Penny Gray, the detective who investigated Angela Hughes' murder in 1973, killed Peter Mercer after discovering he was the killer. She concealed his body to protect herself and maintain her reputation. Years later, when redevelopment threatened to reveal Mercer's grave, her husband John murdered Mercer's already-dead body to prevent the discovery and protect Penny.

Elizabeth began receiving threatening messages because she was getting too close to solving the murders. As she and the Thursday Murder Club investigated deeper into Tony Curran's death and the 1973 case, someone wanted to scare her into dropping the investigation.

Bobby Tanner was a local crime boss secretly involved in the Coopers Chase redevelopment scheme. He was actually Tony Curran's partner in migrant trafficking, seizing passports from migrants. After Tony's death, Tanner became the sole owner of Coopers Chase following Ian's fentanyl overdose.

The TMC uncovers that local crime boss Bobby Tanner is secretly connected to the scheme and thought dead years earlier.

Ian Ventham died from a fentanyl overdose during a residents' protest against the redevelopment. While initially suspected as murder, his death appears to be connected to the broader plot involving Bobby Tanner, who benefited from Ian's death as it made him sole owner of Coopers Chase.

Jason Ritchie, Ron's son, was arrested because he had previously worked with Tony Curran, making him an initial suspect. However, the evidence against him was weak. He later provided an alibi: he was having an affair with Ian's estranged wife Gemma, which cleared him of the murder charges.

The club learns that Ron's son Jason had previously worked with Tony Curran.

Elizabeth confronted Bobby Tanner after discovering he was trafficking migrants and that Tony Curran was his partner. She struck a bargain: he must keep Coopers Chase intact in return for her silence about his criminal activities. This was a strategic move to protect the village.

Penny Gray and her husband John both died in hospice care shortly after the truth emerged. The implication is that they died from a fentanyl-fueled murder-suicide. John had killed Peter Mercer to protect Penny when the redevelopment threatened to reveal the body, and they ultimately chose to end their lives together rather than face exposure.
