An aristocratic English family gathers for a patriarch’s will, learning the estate goes to Barbara, his favourite daughter. The butler is stabbed; Sergeant Thorpe summons Scotland Yard. Inspector Grey arrives; he and Barbara survive a shooting. Cousin Ted and his wife Pauline are killed, and Thorpe recalls photos Ted developed, hinting at murderer.
