In a magical‑realist blend of five João Guimarães Rosa tales, a farmer abandons his family, drifting downriver while his son imagines daily conversations from the bank. The film paints rural Brazil as timeless and mysterious, then satirically explores faith as the youngest child becomes a saintly miracle‑worker after the family moves to the city.
