Javé, a poor community, faces flooding from a new dam and can only survive by proving its historic value. Most residents cannot read, so they turn to António Biá, the shunned postmaster who once forged letters to keep his job. Tasked with recording oral histories of the town’s founding, he finds each inhabitant recalls a different story.
