The Street with No Name

A series of crimes, including a nightclub holdup ending in murder and a bank robbery resulting in a guard's death, strikes Center City. The local authorities and FBI meet to discuss the escalating violence and plan their investigation.

FBI agents headed by Inspector George A. Briggs collaborate with local law enforcement officials, including police chief Bernard Harmatz and Police Commissioner Ralph Demory. They focus on suspect Robert Danker, interrogating him about the crimes.

Briggs questions Danker, who denies involvement in the murders and claims he has been framed. Tests at the FBI laboratory in Washington later exonerate him, clearing him of suspicion. Despite this, Danker is later found stabbed to death after being bailed out.

Briggs briefs agent Gene Cordell at the FBI Academy in Quantico about infiltrating the gang believed to be responsible for the murders. Cordell is sent undercover to gather evidence against the criminals in Center City.

Cordell takes a bus into Center City and rents a room at a local 'Skid Row' hotel, the same one Danker had previously occupied. Fellow agent Cy Gordon also stays nearby, beginning his surveillance of the gang.

Cordell, using the alias George Manly, makes himself known by engaging in local activities, including initiating a fight at a gym. During the conversation, he discovers his Social Security card has been stolen, complicating his undercover identity.

While discussing the theft, police arrest Cordell for breaking into a jewelry store where his stolen card was used. The FBI has fabricated a false record for Cordell, and he is bailed out by 'John Smith', who is revealed to be Alec Stiles, a gang leader.

Stiles, impressed by Cordell's apparent connections, invites him to join his organization. Cordell reports to Briggs, who confirms Stiles and his gang are linked to the murders. Stiles plans a mansion robbery, which the FBI and police prepare to intercept.

Stiles has a heated argument with his wife Judy, and the gang's plans for the mansion heist are foiled when an informant tips off the police, leading Stiles to cancel the robbery. Meanwhile, Cordell attempts to recover a bullet for evidence by firing Stiles' gun.

Stiles discovers Cordell fired the gun and suspects a mole within his gang. He seeks confirmation from his police informant, who is revealed to be Commissioner Demory. The gang's infiltration by the FBI begins to come to light.

Gordon follows Shivvy, Matty, and Cordell to a factory where a confrontation occurs. Shivvy stabs Gordon, who then alerts Briggs about the gang's location amid tense moments of suspicion and tension.

Briggs and backup arrive to confront Stiles. A chase ensues through the factory, culminating in Cordell cornering and killing Stiles. This resolves the gang threat and links the crimes to the criminal organization.

With Stiles dead, Briggs arrests Demory, revealing his involvement in the criminal scheme. Agent Gordon is shown to survive his injury, bringing closure to the investigation and dismantling of the gang responsible for the crime wave.
