The nativity unfolds from the unexpected viewpoint of a humble donkey and a faithful ox. They observe Mary and Joseph’s journey, the magi’s gifts, King Herod’s wrath, the flight to Egypt, and the ruler’s murderous plot, doing what they can to shelter the newborn Christ. They stand by the stable night, offering comfort and warning the family of danger.
