The Son of Kong

Several months after Kong's catastrophic rampage in Manhattan, Carl Denham finds himself hiding from his relentless debtors in a boarding house. He is burdened by numerous lawsuits and facing the possibility of indictment, reflecting on the chaos that ensued from his previous adventure.

Capt. Englehorn proposes a new voyage to the South Pacific to transition Denham into a merchant career. Seizing the opportunity, Denham eagerly accepts the offer, hoping to escape his financial troubles while enlisting the ship's chef, Charlie, for the journey.

Upon reaching the port of Dakang, Denham and the crew find resources are scarce, leading to growing tensions among the increasingly irate crew. This challenging environment sets the stage for future conflicts amongst the group while they attempt to establish their new venture.

In a local village, Denham and Englehorn watch a variety show starring Hilda, a talented singer, and trained monkeys. The show is overshadowed by Hilda's father's tragic state, which leads to a violent confrontation with a Norwegian skipper, resulting in his death.

After a drunken provocation, Norwegian skipper Helstrom reacts violently and kills Hilda's father. This escalates into chaos as a lamp knocks over, igniting a fire, leaving Hilda to desperately attempt to save her father and their performing animals amidst the turmoil.

The day after the chaos, Denham approaches Hilda with unexpected kindness, trying to comfort her. He later confronts Helstrom and learns that he had sold him the map to Skull Island, which leads to their decision to venture back to the island in search of fortune.

As they set sail for Skull Island, Helstrom incites a mutiny among the crew, aiming to overtake Denham, Englehorn, and the others. However, loyal crew member Red opposes Helstrom, resulting in the latter being cast away from the ship along with his fellow troublemakers.

Upon landing on Skull Island, Denham and the group are immediately met with hostility from the island's natives, who threaten them with spears. They manage to find a secluded cove to keep their boat safe, showcasing the dangers they will face on this treacherous island.

While foraging for food, Denham and Hilda discover 'Little Kong,' an adorable 12-foot-tall white gorilla trapped in quicksand. Moved by compassion, Hilda persuades Denham to help free the creature, which sets off a chain of events that will change their lives.

While exploring, Denham and Hilda are attacked by a giant bear, but Little Kong intervenes and defeats the beast using a fallen tree. This act of bravery leads Hilda to bond with Little Kong, while Denham remains skeptical of the creature's potential.

Little Kong leads Denham and Hilda to a legendary temple filled with treasure. Denham is captivated by a priceless necklace, but their treasure hunt is interrupted by a monstrous lizard that they must confront together.

Helstrom arrives at the temple only to realize that his earlier tales of treasure were a fabrication. Panic sets in as he attempts to flee but meets a grisly fate when he is devoured by an elasmosaurus lurking in the waters.

A sudden earthquake and hurricane strike Skull Island, leading to its imminent destruction. As chaos ensues, Hilda, Englehorn, and Charlie manage to return to their boat, desperately searching for Denham amidst the rising waters.

Little Kong selflessly aids Denham in escaping the flood by propping him up as the waters rise. Tragically, as they cling to safety, Little Kong sacrifices himself, drowning beneath the waves while ensuring Denham could survive.

A navy ship rescues Hilda, Englehorn, Charlie, and Denham in the aftermath of the disaster. In the wake of their harrowing experience, Denham contemplates Little Kong's intentions, while Hilda expresses her affection for him, hinting at their potential future together.
