The Silent Hour

Shaw continues to juggle his high-stakes detective work with being a present dad to his daughter Sam, even after the divorce. He makes a steady effort to be there for her despite the pressures of the job and his own doubts.

Shaw is called to a homicide scene where two men are killed amid blaring sirens and helicopters. The chaos makes him question whether he can still function as a detective given his new hearing impairment.

Slater finds Shaw at a bar and explains they have a deaf witness who needs to be spoken to immediately. With the interpreter unavailable for days, Shaw is the only officer who can communicate, using his sign language. The witness, Eva Fremont, takes their cooperation and becomes central to the case.

Eva explains she saw a heated discussion on Wednesday night that escalated to gunfire, killing two people right in front of her. She reveals she captured the incident on her phone, and she is terrified that the criminals will come after her for talking to the police.

Slater takes Eva's phone to analyze the footage, hoping to corroborate her story. Eva fears for her safety while Shaw reassures her that he will protect her as the investigation unfolds.

Two armed men break into Eva's apartment soon after, aiming to silence her. Shaw arrives just in time to fight them off and save Eva from harm.

The criminals lock down the entire apartment building, hijack the cell tower to reroute 911 calls, and deploy fellow corrupt cops to seal exits. Shaw and Eva realize they are trapped with no easy way out.

Shaw and Eva escape the burning building and end up at Sam's recital, sharing a quiet moment after all they endured. The case resolves as Shaw finds a renewed sense of purpose despite his injuries.
