The Psychotronic Man

Rocky Foscoe, a Chicago barber, takes the long way home and parks on Old Orchard Road. He falls asleep and dreams that his car lifts off the ground, hovering in mid-air, an eerie vision that unsettles him. The nightmare hints at strange forces at work on that road.

The next day Rocky seeks medical advice about the nightmare, hoping to understand what he experienced. The doctor notes his anxiety and cautions him about stress affecting his perception. Rocky tries to return to work, but an anxiety attack panics him and he flees, worrying his mistress.

Returning to the road to seek explanations, Rocky encounters an old man who offers help and mentions that strange things have been happening on that stretch of road. The old man recalls hearing screams from the sky, implying Rocky’s car may have floated. The encounter deepens Rocky's sense of danger around Old Orchard Road.

During another attack, Rocky's condition intensifies and the old man fires a shotgun at him. Rocky reacts with a psychic force that kills the old man on the spot. The roadside confrontation confirms that Rocky's powers are real.

Five hours later, Chicago police discover the old man's body and find tire tracks from Rocky's car that abruptly stop, as if the car had floated away. The puzzling evidence deepens the road's haunted reputation and raises questions about Rocky's possible involvement. Investigators begin to consider a supernatural angle.

That night, a newspaper item about the old man's death alerts the doctor that Rocky might be connected to the case. He contacts the police to share his concern. Later that night, Rocky unexpectedly arrives and kills the doctor with his psychic powers.

As the case grows stranger, the police seek a rational explanation and consult a professor at the Chicago Institute of Psychology. The professor presents a parapsychological theory of psychotronic energy, suggesting Rocky has tapped latent subconscious power. Police begin to treat the case as potentially supernatural rather than purely criminal.

Rocky visits his mistress and then returns home, where a confrontation with his wife escalates. He nearly kills her using his emerging powers, underscoring the danger he poses to those closest to him. The incident intensifies the police's focus on Rocky as a potential killer.

Police stake out outside Rocky's home hear the scream and close in. Rocky drives downtown, keeping ahead with his powers and even floating the car again. When he hits a dead end, he crashes and flees on foot.

Rocky seizes a weapon from an officer trapped in a warehouse, then heads for the hotel roof and kills a security guard on the way. He moves into a boiler room where he kills another officer with his psychotronic power, then escapes to a tower in an adjoining building. The pursuit intensifies as officers close in.

As the SWAT team moves into position, a special intelligence agent arrives and orders the police to capture Rocky alive for national security. The sheriff gives him one last chance to surrender, then has him shot. Rocky falls from the tower, though his body is not found on the street.

The ending leaves Rocky's fate ambiguous, with his body remaining missing in the city. The final shot returns to the woods of Old Orchard Road, suggesting the threat and mystery persist beyond the cityscape. The film closes on an eerie note, implying the psychotronic powers may endure in the landscape.
