Set in 1932 during Marmaduke Grove’s socialist government, villagers in Palmilla seize land, embarking on a mythic quest to impose socialist ideals on the community. Their efforts are jeopardized by rumors that reactionary forces have toppled the regime, and the film was censored after the coup, finished in exile in Mexico.
