Two thieves drift across the Chilean desert until they reach a small town near Bolivia. They try to blend in with the locals, but their instincts betray them, leading to a tragic outcome. Inspired by true events, the film opened a year after the Chilean coup. The day after its premiere, scriptwriter Carmen Bueno and cinematographer Jorge Müller were arrested by police and disappeared, joining the list of the Desaparecidos.
