The Princess Bride

A grandfather begins to read a tale to his ill grandson, who is initially disinterested in the story. As the narrative unfolds, the grandson gradually becomes captivated by the tale being told.

In the imaginary kingdom of Florin, Buttercup, a beautiful young woman, gives orders to her farmhand Westley, who always responds with the phrase, 'As you wish.' This simple interaction sparks a blossoming romance between the two, setting the stage for a deeper connection.

Westley leaves Florin to seek his fortune, with hopes of returning to Buttercup. Tragically, he is presumed dead when his ship is attacked by the notorious Dread Pirate Roberts, leaving Buttercup heartbroken.

Five years later, Buttercup is forced to marry the cruel Prince Humperdinck. Despite her impending nuptials, she struggles with her feelings for Westley, whom she believes is lost forever.

Before the wedding, Buttercup is abducted by a trio of criminals: Vizzini the cunning Sicilian, Fezzik the giant, and Inigo Montoya, a skilled swordsman seeking vengeance. Their kidnapping triggers a series of adventures as they are pursued.

The mysterious man in black pursues the kidnappers, leading to a showdown on the perilous Cliffs of Insanity. He defeats Inigo in a duel, overpowers Fezzik, and tricks Vizzini into drinking poison.

As the man in black escapes with Buttercup, she discovers his true identity as the Dread Pirate Roberts. Convinced he has killed Westley, she pushes him into a gorge, but he shouts 'As you wish!' as he falls.

Westley and Buttercup traverse the treacherous Fire Swamp to evade capture. During their escape, Westley explains that the title of Dread Pirate Roberts can be passed down, revealing more about his past.

Despite their escape from the Fire Swamp, Prince Humperdinck captures Westley and Buttercup. He deceitfully tells Buttercup that he will find Westley, while plotting to imprison him in the dreaded Pit of Despair.

Buttercup, in despair over her predicament, threatens to take her own life if the wedding goes ahead. This ultimatum momentarily sways Humperdinck, who falsely promises to help her find Westley.

Fezzik encounters the drunken Inigo and helps him regain sobriety. The two resolve to team up and rescue Westley from Count Rugen, intent on avenging Inigo's father's death.

As Prince Humperdinck tortures Westley, he brings him close to death. Meanwhile, Inigo and Fezzik are on a mission to locate Westley's lifeless body and seek help from Miracle Max.

Miracle Max, a local healer, manages to revive Westley, despite his weak condition. Grateful and rejuvenated, Westley teams up with Inigo and Fezzik for an assault on the castle.

Inigo faces Count Rugen in an epic duel, avenging the murder of his father. As chaos unfolds, Westley reassures Buttercup of their love, declaring their marriage invalid due to his prior absence.

As dawn breaks, Inigo and Fezzik help Buttercup and Westley escape on horseback. They ride toward an uncertain future, where Inigo is offered the title of Dread Pirate Roberts and the couple shares a passionate kiss.
