Tony Mareda, Jr., a former Olympic athlete and world-renowned private detective, is driving across the country when mobsters close in on him. He plunges into the sleepy backwater town of Beamsville and slips into the local drive-in theater, but his pursuers follow. As he fights the hit men among the parked cars, a pink meteor streaks overhead and crashes in the nearby woods.
That meteor’s spectacular arrival pulls the drive-in crowd outside, where the townspeople hurry to inspect the strange glow. As the young couples search the woods, the women begin to hear a ringing from the glowing pink rock and fall under its spell, turning into lusty nymphomaniacs who will guard the meteor by drawing men toward it. One of the few who remains unaffected is the local TV weatherman, Clip Bacardi, who has discovered a small fragment of the meteor, though he is so engrossed by it that he hardly notices his girlfriend, Mary Ann Kowalski, trying to coax him.
The next morning, the crater sits empty, and the men who went hunting for it are found wandering in catatonia through the woods. Beamsville’s mayor, facing a challenge from Mary Ann Kowalski in the upcoming election, orders the town deputy to seek help from Tony Mareda, Jr. to uncover what happened to the men. When Clip goes on the air that evening with his fragment, the sound it emits turns all the women watching into the meteor’s devoted servants. Learning of the investigation, the women seduce a key witness and, under Mary Ann’s direction, begin to seize control of the town.
Clip stumbles into the plot and barely escapes the women’s takeover of the television station. He informs the mayor, and the men form a posse to track down the meteor. In the woods, Clip encounters a scantily clad Mary Ann who nearly incapacitates him, but Tony Mareda, Jr. manages to subdue her with chloroform. After placing her in the town jail, Tony and Clip push further into the woods to follow the meteor to a cave, where they narrowly dodge a group of worshippers who arrive to pay homage to it. A roadblock foils their attempt to flee to the next town, so they return to Beamsville to find the women’s takeover complete and the remaining men wandering in dazed stupor.
Clip experiments with the meteor’s fragment in an effort to learn how to defeat it, but the fumes trap him when the fragment catches fire. Tony is knocked unconscious by a group of women who surge through the town in a pink Sherman tank, destroying the jail from which he tries to escape.
When Tony comes to, he’s inside the cave again, awakened by [Mary Ann Kowalski], who reveals that the meteor, which she calls “Betty,” has chosen him to father its offspring. As the meteor draws Tony toward it, the cave wall collapses and floods the chamber—a weakness the pair must exploit. The rock is swept out of the cave and, with [Mary Ann Kowalski] resisting the meteor after seeing Clip attacked, the two of them join forces to push the pulsating rock into the town lake. The meteor’s destruction breaks the spell, and the women regain their senses, returning Beamsville to normal as the town’s men awaken from their daze.
