Zarkorr! The Invader

The aliens who launched Zarkorr selected Tommy Ward as their "chosen one" and thrust him into the role of humanity's savior. The specific criteria for his selection is never explained in the film - he is simply an extraordinarily ordinary postal worker singled out by the aliens for this specific mission, appearing as a mental image in his mind.

The six-inch pixie appears as a mental image projected directly into Tommy's brain by the aliens. She explains she is not a physical being but rather a mental projection created by the alien intelligence to guide him. This allows her to communicate with him internally and provide crucial information about Zarkorr's weaknesses.

The pixie explains early on that Zarkorr cannot be destroyed by normal weapons such as fire or missiles. The monster's power operates on a different principle that makes it invulnerable to conventional military responses. This forces humanity to seek an alternative solution.

The pixie's revelation that normal weapons won't work sets up the need for the capsule-based strategy.

The metallic capsule fell from the sky at the moment Zarkorr arrived on Earth and had remained unopenable until Tommy touches it. When Tommy makes contact, the capsule opens by itself, revealing its top piece which becomes the improvised shield used to reflect Zarkorr's laser back at the creature.

After most of the world dismisses him as crazy for claiming he must fight a monster, Tommy forcibly takes Dr. Stephanie Martin hostage to secure her scientific help. His extreme action is intended to prove his story is real and gain access to her expertise in developing a strategy to defeat Zarkorr.

Through computer analysis, Dr. Martin and Tommy determine that Zarkorr neither sleeps nor breathes in the conventional biological sense. This revelation suggests the monster's weakness lies in its static, energy-based nature rather than traditional vulnerabilities, guiding them toward the strategy of reflecting its own laser power back at it.

After Tommy reflects Zarkorr's laser back at the creature using the capsule shield, the massive 185-foot monster dissolves into a small glowing sphere. This sphere then drifts away into space, ending the threat permanently.

Police officer George Ray recognizes the seriousness of Tommy's claims and chooses to help him and Dr. Martin escape from the police station. Unlike others who dismiss Tommy as crazy, Officer Ray decides to listen to the extraordinary story and provides crucial support that keeps the mission alive.
