The New Adventures of Little Toot

The film opens with a fierce storm at sea as a father dog sends his pups into a lifeboat and stays aboard the stricken ship. The pups cling to each other while towering waves lash the hull, questioning whether they'll ever be found. The mood is tense and sets up the quest to reunite the family.

Salty the Seagull and Echo the Dolphin locate the pups on the rough ocean and haul them up onto the deck of a rescue ship. Andy and Tina introduce themselves and express a mix of relief and fear. The rescue team promises to help them find Captain Dogwood.

Salty pledges to help locate Captain Dogwood, their missing father, and Echo confirms the dad’s fate is still uncertain. The pups share their names and their wish to be reunited with him, strengthening the bond with their rescuers. The mission to reach Dogwood begins to take shape.

They meet Little Toot, the once-proud tugboat now dirty and docked, home to three misbehaving cats. The cats are hostile but clever, using fear to try to stay in control of the boat. This backstory explains why the voyage will require courage and teamwork to reach Dogwood.

The cats threaten to throw the pups overboard and to feed them to a shark unless Toot cooperates. Salty steps in and lights a fire under the tugboat's confidence, urging Little Toot to stand up for his crew. Toot chases off the cats with a water-spraying hose, restoring order.

With the threat gone, the crew cleans up Little Toot and gets him shipshape again. The pups and crew prepare for the voyage by gathering Percy's Perfect Purple Pickle Pelican Pellets and stocking up on bubble gum and ice cream. They set off across the sea toward their first destination.

They encounter Typhoon Tessie, the weather lady who admits she creates the storms as part of her job. She warns that she must have control over the skies and threatens to rearrange the voyage if disobeyed. The weather turns rough as Tessie unleashes a new round of turbulent winds.

The storm tests the crew as the cats try to reach Little Toot amid the wind and rain. Echo and Salty call to Toot to push through, and the tugboat mans the helm with renewed resolve. Finally the seas calm enough to continue the journey.

Skull Rocks loom ahead and the cats beg to return to their sinking boat, but it fails. The crew and pups ride a surf as Toot uses the waves to pull them through the treacherous stretch. They emerge from the danger as the sea returns to a calmer pace.

The party lands on a nearby island where Dogwood's ship is partly wrecked but still afloat. Salty and the pups head ashore to search for him while Little Toot dozes and the cats tie the captain's ship to Toot, hoping to locate sardines in the kitchen.

They find Dogwood and awaken him to the reunion. A volcano on the island erupts, forcing everyone to flee toward the safety of Little Toot. The cats stubbornly keep the ship tied to Toot, hoping to use him for their own gain as lava flows threaten to trap them all.

To escape the lava, Toot blows a giant bubble with bubblegum and glides across the molten barrier. The crew makes it back to safety and Little Toot vows he will never feel sorry for himself again. Dogwood reveals he threw sardines overboard to lighten the ship, leaving the cats empty-handed, while Salty guards his prized pickles in a humorous standoff as they head back to harbor.
